Our Story

Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

The origins of civicPRIDE date back to a group of passionate LGBTQ+ professionals who saw a need for greater representation in local government leadership. We found ourselves inspiring each other and realized that we could create an organization to empower LGBTQ+ people in the public sector. Our dream is to create a world where queer people can feel safe and accepted in all parts of their lives, including their professional careers and their communities. We aim to provide a supportive network for LGBTQ+ professionals in local government, so they can share their experiences and collaborate on innovative initiatives.

Our Mission

Provide an inclusive space and networking group for LGBTQIA+ local government professionals and their straight allies.
Recognize the accomplishments and experiences of LGBTQIA+ local government professionals.
Inspire LGBTQIA+ individuals and encourage them to apply to leadership roles in local government.
Diversify local government organizations by advocating for LGBTQIA+ individuals and their inclusion and advancement in these organizations.
Educate local government professionals and organizations on creating an inclusive culture for LGBTQIA+ employees and community members.
